Current Class Schedules Our CGC or Canine Good Citizenship classes are structured for up to ten dogs and owners. These classes are a very good way to train your dog, because both you and your dog are interacting with other dogs and owners. Plus the social interaction and training prepares your dog for the Canine Good Citizenship test. Once your dog completes the Canine Good Citizen preview class and passes the Canine Good Citizen test your dog will become certified by the American Kennel Club as a Canine Good Citizen. Secondly your dog can become a therapy dog at local hospitals and nursing homes. You will learn how to control your dog throughout various situations, your dog will learn self control through different distractive environments. You will also receive valuable information on typical canine behavioral problems and other commands such as off, okay, leave it, bed, home, cage or place will be established. This allows you to have complete control over your dog at all times. Training may start as early as twelve weeks of age for puppies, but the old saying that you can't teach an old dog new tricks definitely isn't true either. Basis Obedience training will teach your dog the basic commands of heel, sit, stay, down, down/stay, and come. A familiarity with CGC test items will also be taught such as Accepting a friendly stranger, Sitting politely for petting, Allowing to be groomed, Walking on a loose leash, Walking through a crowd, Behaving properly around others dogs, Reaction to distractions, and being supervised while separated from the owner. The basic program involves six weekly sessions on Saturdays. We limit the sessions to maximum of ten dogs. Older dogs are welcomed also. Remember to bring a pooper-scooper or baggies to clean up after your dog. Plan on arriving early to facilitate your dog's registration. Please bring a 6ft. leather leash with you with you.
